Multifocal IOLs are now used in up to 40% of cataract surgery in Europe and the US.  Dr. Pierre Mardelli was the first surgeon to have used it in Lebanon and the Middle East back in 2004. Come benefit from our years of experience and let us show you the difference.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) and around the eyelids for a short period of time (temporary). At ECC we aim for a more "natural look".

Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness.  ECC acquired the latest Visual Field Analyzer from Haag Streit and OCT from Optovue. Both are vital for earlier diagnosis and follow-up of this blinding disease.

The newest generation excimer laser from AMO: The VISX S4 with the iDesign Advanced Wavescan Studio (TM). This is the first system of its kind in Lebanon and the Middle East. Go ahead and call us for more info.

Custom LASIK with the iDesign Wavescan Studio System combines two exciting technologies to reshape the cornea to reduce or eliminate visual distortions. This technology has the potential to improve how much and how well you can see as well as reduce the risks of post-LASIK complications.

LASIKis a refractive surgical procedure that corrects your vision, thus lessening your dependence on any corrective devices such as contact lenses or eyeglasses. At ECC we strive to offer you the latest technology such as Custom LASIK using the iDesign Wavescan.

With the new aquisition of the latest generation excimer laser, ECC is setting the bar ever higher. We strive to provide our patients with the best customer-care experience and quality of vision available today.

Important for you
Glaucoma Follow-up

Patients with glaucoma are to be seen at least every 3 to 4 months for a pressure check (IOP).  A recent recommendation by the European Glaucoma Society (EGS) urges all ophthalmologist to increase the rate of obtaining visual fields from 1 a year to at least 6 every 2 years especially in newly diagnosed individuals and in people where progression is suspected. A worsening of the visual field MD (median deviation) by as much as 1db per year is a bad sign of progression and prompts further decrease in the IOP.

When Should I Have My Eyes Examined?

Adults should have routine eye exams starting in their twenties. This should be repeated every 2 to 3 years.  After the age of 40 and as the risk of eye-related diseases increases, one should have a routine eye exam yearly.  During such an exam, vision as well as the eye pressure (IOP) and fundus are all checked by an experienced ophthalmologist.

Eye Care Center Cosmetic Beauty Treat

As we age, our skin changes. Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. Take your expression from “tired”, “angry”, and “sullen” to “Rested”, “Bright”, and “Youthful” with Eye Care Center Cosmetic Beauty Treat.

Many of us would love to improve our appearance but don’t have either the time or the desire to undergo cosmetic surgery. With today’s advancements, there are things that we can do to make amazing changes without surgery or a long recovery period. At Eye Care Center, BOTOX Cosmetic treatments can be used to improve the appearance of worry lines, frown lines, crow’s feet and other wrinkles caused by aging. This procedure can be done at ECC on a lunch break and requires no anesthesia or recovery.

Overall, the vast majority of patients love this “quick professional fix” and return for a BOTOX Cosmetic treatment boost as soon as the wrinkles begin to reappear!

Most of our patients want to maintain their “freedom of expression”.
You can experience JUVEDERM injectable gel with a quick, in-office procedure and minimal downtime. During treatment, Dr. Mardelli will ease JUVEDERM under your skin to smooth out the moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.

You’ll see the difference instantly!

The eyes are the windows of the soul , but they’re also one of the first areas to show signs of aging. Drooping layers of skin and deep wrinkles on the eyelids can lead to a tired and a sad looking appearance. Eyelid surgery or Blepharoplasty can return youthful elegance to an individual’s face by removing excess skin and protruding pockets of fat from the upper and/or lower lid. If you’re concerned about the appearance of your eyes and wish to have a smoother, more youthful look, we invite you to consider blepharoplasty.

Blepharoplasty can give your eyes a vibrant, alert, and refreshed appearance that will make you feel as good you look!

We are at your disposal should you wish to ask questions during your consultation, or by telephone, or even online!

Vision Changes and Pregnancy

Expecting mothers usually expect to suffer from morning sickness and lower back pain, but they are surprised to find that their eyesight also changes due to the hormonal and physical changes that go with pregnancy. Luckily, these problems are usually minor and the vision returns to normal after the baby is born.
1. Blurry Vision

Fluid retention, a typical symptom of pregnancy, can change the thickness and state of the cornea. Minor changes in the cornea may cause blurriness or bended vision. Luckily, these changes typically go away after pregnancy or after you stop breast feeding.

You will not have to do anything if the progressions don't trouble you. On the off chance that your vision adjusts fundamentally, notwithstanding, converse with your specialist. You may need to change your medicine on the off chance that you wear glasses. Most eye specialists exhort against getting lasik surgery or being fitted for new contacts amid pregnancy. The reason: the state of your cornea will return to typical after your pregnancy is over.

2. Dry Eyes During Pregnancy

You may find that your eyes are drier and more irritated during pregnancy (as well as during breastfeeding). This, along with subtle changes in the shape and thickness of the cornea, may contribute to some difficulty wearing contact lenses that were once comfortable.

Ask your eye doctor about dry-eye remedies. Some over-the-counter solutions are fine to use, but others contain active ingredients that may not be completely safe during pregnancy. If you use contact lenses, try wearing them for shorter stretches of time. If that doesn't help, switch to glasses until you have your baby. Make regular breaks from the computer part of your routine. Staring at a computer screen for long periods of time (during which you may not blink as frequently as usual) can exacerbate the dryness and irritation.

3. Gestational Diabetes and Vision Issues

High glucose levels associated with diabetes can harm the blood vessels that supply the retina. The risk of getting worse goes up during pregnancy. A temporary type of diabetes that occasionally happens during pregnancy, called gestational diabetes, can cause unclear or blurry vision.
If you have diabetes, your condition should be monitored during this period to keep the blood sugar levels stable.
